Can turn off the email validation

Hi all, does anyone knows how to turn off the email validation for registration of members? I dont want to send the newly registered member any email for validations. Thanks in advance!

1. Go to Adminzone
2. Click the 'Setup' tab
3. Click 'Configuration' (not 'Base Configuration'!)
4. Click 'Forum Options' (6th link down)
5. Untick the 'Require member validation' box (7th entry down)
6. Click 'proceed'

Hi Joe, that option of mine is already been unchecked but how come when new user registers, the error of emailing still occurs?

You're getting an error? Are you using OCF or a 3rd party forum software?

Also, if you're getting an error, paste it here so I can try to determine what the possible problem is.

Hi,

(Joe - I don't think thesea means a literal error, just an unintended action)

There is no supported way to disable these emails in ocPortal at the moment. The option pointed out is actually a secondary validation that allows the staff to vet new members manually.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
