I have a very strange problem:

I created a bunch of Galleries and entered pictures and videos all without incident. I tried audeos but it seems with FireFox there was problems for some because it wants to use QuickTime and some people either don't like it or have issues installing it. So I decided to put the Audios into the Downloads with all of the other Documents that I was going to put in there. Up to this point everything looked fine, I have menu items that took me to all of the appropriate area and all the content displayed and downloaded fine. I then remembered another Video that I had to upload so I added it but when I went to create a Menu item I found this.

Then I went into the Content Management area then edit Galleries and found this.

Download: gallery_edit.jpg (346 Kb, 1 download so far)

It seems some how the uploads is interlinked to the Galleries. I can delete them and it does not appear to cause a problem with my existing downloads but it is very odd. As you can see each of my downloads has created a new Gallery and appended the word Download to it.

This is normal. Downloads can have images, which go through these galleries.
There's a config option to control it a bit: search the Admin Zone for download_gallery_root.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
