I seem to have a strange issue, where under a normal user, if I go to the Downloads module the Control Functions section under the categories and downloads is missing. If I am logged in as a administrator, I still have them. I am curious as to whether or not someone has seen this issue before and what were their steps to resolve them? I did a quick look on the forums and didn't find anything related to what my issue is yet.

Thanks for any advice or support you all could give. It has been a frustrating issue.

Sounds like a permissions thing...

I had changed all of the permissions back to their defaults for the Downloads module and nothing had changed. The Control Function section was still missing.

It could have inherited changed global permissions, e.g. permissions to the CMS zone, or changed content editing specific permissions.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks all for the help, I looked into some of the other permission in the Content Management module and it turned out that that module's permissions were the culprit.

I was trying to limit the number of zones listed at the top and apparently the Content Management module's view permissions tie in with the Control Function.

I did find a better way to limit the zones listed by the way. Just to edit the zone and check "Display in Menu".

Again, thanks for the help!
