Loving ocportal.
Have alot of downloads though and it's making the pages take awhile to scroll through.
Was wondering if it's possible to set a per page limit on the downloads categories so people can navigate better.
For example:
  • user hits "downloads" in the side menu on the mainpage
  • leads to main categories, user picks a category
  • user sees subcategories or the downloads for that category
  • instead of seeing an obscenely long page that takes forever to scroll through, they see 5 downloads then numbers on top and/or bottom to get to next pages (maybe some arrows?)
This will not only make it easier on the user, but it will be easier for them to refer to friends "it's on page 8" instead of "keep scrolling til you're near the bottom or use the find function on your browser".

Will also make it easier on me and the other contributors so we don't have to do everything through the admin panel.

Is there a setting for this somewhere? or some customizing that can be done?

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
