How to display all submitted images (photos) as one group, not only in galleries?

Greetings,
I'm a new novice user of ocPortal, starting to create a website for our church members. I'm setting up the Galleries area now. I'm wondering how to display thumbnails (that of course link to their full version) of all submitted images not only in separate galleries, but also as one group, as in this example in the Ning platform:
Photos - PickensPlan

I'll also want to do the same thing with videos separately.
This seems to be a pretty common display option on social networking websites.
I searched the forums for a while and didn't find an answer to this question. So far it looks like we can only present a list of galleries. Maybe it's done by pointing to a tag?
Thank you in advance for any clarification.

Hi Rishi,

This Comcode may do it, but I haven't tested:

Code

[block="*"]main_gallery_embed[/block]
(paste on any Comcode page you want it on)

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

That "*" can be customised to any ocFilter. E.g. if you wanted to show anything under a gallery called "foo", "foo*". There's also a 'max' parameter. That'll help if you have a problem with it showing 10 billion images ;).

Thank you Chris. I created a new page and got all submitted images to display as one group. Now I'm trying to get the "results browser" to appear on the bottom so a user can choose how many thumbnails to display and browse through the pages. I tried creating a custom comcode tag with some replacement text copied from a template:

{content} {+START,IF_NON_EMPTY,{RESULTS_BROWSER}}
<div class="float_surrounder results_browser_spacing">
{RESULTS_BROWSER}
</div>
{+END}

but that didn't work yet. I don't really know what I'm doing. O_o

Sorry, that's not an option (at least not without custom coding). The block is designed as a way to draw out content but not really for primary navigation.
