on forum posts

Our members are strongly complain about email notifications on any posts in topics started by the member which cannot be disabled now. It is possible to set "Track contributed topics" off but it still sends notifications on posts in topics which the member has started and personal messages. It would be great if it could be possible to disable these notifications (as well as any others the system may send) as well. Probably it would be best to create a separate page in a member's profile where he/she could choose all and any notifications sent by system he/she would like to receive.

ocProducts has a long term desire to implement this also:
0000166: Global tracking system - ocPortal feature tracker

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

FYI there is a table you could empty to delete all current trackings, f_topic_tracking IIRC

Trackings are not that much issue as they can be disabled by members. However, if the member is started the topic by himself, he still receives notifications to email on any reply in his topic. Is there any fast way to disable this feature? :)

Well, there's an untrack topic button on the bottom of forum topics they're tracking.

So people can change their default setting by editing their profile, they can untrack individual topics, or you can wipe the whole tracking table to remove all current trackings.
