Hello,

In the automatically generated newsletter, I'm trying to get the following border from global.css --

.global_middle .boxless_space .box .box + .box:before, .comments_wrapper .boxless_space .box + .box:before {
content: "";
width: 60%;
display: block;
margin: 0 auto;
border-top: 2px dotted {$GET,pale_border} !important;
padding-top: 0.4em;

to appear as a divider between each of my news articles. I've been trying to figure out which template to put it in, and how, and haven't got it to work so far. I tried in these templates:

newsletter_automated_fcomcode
newsletter_automate_section_fcomcode
newsletter_new_resource_fcomcode

I tried to wrap these templates with the class, and alternatively I also tried using the :before pseudo-element to have it show before each h3 article title. But it still didn't work. I did test this pseudo-element in another window (blog post creation) and had it working there (according to Preview screen).

Hi,

Try changing NEWSLETTER_NEW_RESOURCE_FCOMCODE to:

Code

[surround="divided"]
[title="3"]{NAME@}[/title]

{+START,IF_PASSED,THUMBNAIL}[img float="right"]{$THUMBNAIL,{THUMBNAIL},170,,,,,,,1}[/img]{+END}{+START,IF_PASSED,DESCRIPTION}{+START,IF_NON_EMPTY,{DESCRIPTION}}{DESCRIPTION}

{+END}{+END}[url="{!VIEW#}"]{URL@}[/url][/surround]

and changing the CSS rule's selector to .global_middle .boxless_space .box .box + .box:before, .comments_wrapper .boxless_space .box + .box:before, .divided:before.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

oops, I spoke too soon  :$. All is not quite normal. I was just looking at our front page and noticed that the design in the top News block is now off base. There is no divider line between the second and third article, and everything after the second article is smaller type size. And there are no divider lines between the titles in the 'Older' section at the end. Strangely, these abnormalities are only happening in the top News block, not the other News block underneath which contains only my 'Bulletins' category.

This is an unrelated issue. I am working on it, it's a bit complex.
