Since Saturday, June 30th, the cron job has not been updating my sitemap. I have contacted my host (eLief) and they say that the cron job is running. Here is their response:

Hello,

The cron is running

Jul  1 21:00:01 server2 crond[920083]: (XXXXXXX) CMD (/usr/local/bin/php -f /home/XXXXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXX/data/cron_bridge.php)
Jul  1 21:15:01 server2 crond[985263]: (XXXXXXX) CMD (/usr/local/bin/php -f /home/XXXXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXX/data/cron_bridge.php)
Jul  1 21:30:01 server2 crond[23073]: (XXXXXXX) CMD (/usr/local/bin/php -f /home/XXXXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXX/data/cron_bridge.php)
Jul  1 21:45:01 server2 crond[96746]: (XXXXXXX) CMD (/usr/local/bin/php -f /home/XXXXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXX/data/cron_bridge.php)

If we connect as your user XXXXXXX via SSH and run

/usr/local/bin/php -f /home/XXXXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXX/data/cron_bridge.php

There are no errors

If there was an error or the cron wasn't running at all, I could see this as a server issue, but this seems like something in the script that isn't working right any more.

To the best of my knowledge, nothing has changed. I cetainly have not changed anything as I have been busy with other priorities. Any thoughts on why the sitemap is not being generated?

The sitemap typically takes longer than the CRON cycle to generate, so we mark down if it is currently being generated when it starts so as to avoid conflict. If something kills the CRON process mid-way, then it'll stay marked as in-progress.

If 3 days has passed since the mark was placed, it'll ignore the mark and continue on anyway.
So, probably this is going to happen soon.

It's strange that this should pop up when no changes have ben made and the sitemap is always generated currently when I check it.

Various things could cause CRON to terminate early, maybe the server got over-loaded, or maybe there was some failure on it.

Oops. I'll blame it on my stress level. I keep missing phone calls from my doctor/hospital.
