Hi All

Thanks for your help so far.

Well this was goig like a breeze but I keep encountering the same problems:

1) when I close the site and go to reopen it it comes back with

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /adminzone/index.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have done 3 installs and uninstalls to see if that would make a difference - no change. SO as soon as I clos the ste it seems I can no longer reopen it and am forced to rebuild?

2) Paypal - how do I set that up proerly (for subscriptions) only in the past 7 days I have had no success dispite following every action in the  guides.

Everything else is a great success but I need some serious guidance on why and how to solve these.

Okay - I am not a programmer I am just trying to help my community and in real need of help.

THANK YOU:)

Apologies - to be clear - any change I make in the site options comes back with this the 406

I have now tried an install on another domain and the problem is the same...

So I cannot change or update any site options at all.

Hope that detail helps and if so - is this a bug?

Hi,

Could you give us a link?

If private, send me a whisper.

I will take a look, probably tomorrow, see if I can track down the cause.

Unfortunately different hosts have different quirks. This isn't something I've seen, but I have a rough idea what it could be.

Line 189 of sources/site2.php is:

PHP code

if ((!browser_matches('ie')) && (strpos(ocp_srv('SERVER_SOFTWARE'),'IIS')===false)) header('HTTP/1.0 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable');

My suspicion is that removing that line will remove the error.

The line is correctly giving a 503 status code when the site is closed (except not on Windows IIS, or to Internet Explorer, which have known problems – blame Microsoft for that). As you can see, 503 means "Service Temporarily Unavailable" which is exactly what a closed site should be.

I think something on the server is seeing the 503 error, and translating it into a 406 error. Even worse, it's showing a generic response, rather than our UI (we give the UI and the status code, which is the correct thing to do).

Maybe confirm removing this line 'fixes' the error, then ask your web host to investigate and report the cause.

I don't really want to hamstring ocPortal to not give correct signals out, but my response would depend on the underlying cause. It's certainly not something we've seen happen before.

For what it's worth, the host is running Apache with mod_fcgid. I looked for examples of this happening before, and could not find any.

Hello Everyone,

I couldn't help but to ask the same question in regards of the error stated below;

Not Found

The requested URL /forum/index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have tried what Chris has mentioned in regards of moving line 189 but still nothing went down proply. I also tried reinstall using the one click application at my hosting provider PFPWebHosting.com /installatron but nothing seems to work as the exact issue just appearing.

Please Chris would you have any idea as my host would not know how to fix if they can't why is it not workin as they find no server errors on their side.

Best Regards,
Michael G.

Hello OCPortal & The Community,

I'm having a problem with saving any new changes through site's options and to be more persist, every other settings of the site seems to work good but when using the settings to put the site in maintenance , site's description, keywords, and so on will not save. I have tried installing more than three times but the same issue keeps accuring.

I also tried removing the 189 line as mentioned by Chris but that did not work. I noticed that user "Rabbit" hasn't given any news of what Chris advised had worked or not.. It has been 4 days that my host and I have tried to resolve the issue but similar to Guest "Michael" have been crossing the same problem.

Please anyone, any advice to resolve this issue.

I couldn't help but to ask the same question in regards of the error stated below;

As far as I can tell, your problem is very different. Are you saying your problem is related to the site being reopened, or something to do with PayPal? What is it about the original report that matches your situation?

You posted an error message about a particular path not being found, but you didn't state how you got to that error. Because it is related to the forum, it would seem likely you got it when clicking a link to the forum? Is that the case? Perhaps you ran the Setup Wizard and chose not to keep the ocf_forum addon?

and I hve come across the issue that nothing can be save when using the "Admin Settings" and

This would seem to be another separate issue. You need to tell us a lot more. For one thing, I don't think we use the term "Admin Settings" anywhere. Do you mean Configuration in the Admin Zone? Or perhaps more specifically the "Administrative options" part of the Configuration? Do you get an error message, or a blank screen when you try and save, or does it save but when you go back nothing has changed?
My best guess would be a problem with modsecurity. Poor web host modsecurity settings can often  block submission of forms that include HTML in the option values, which includes some config options.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for answering.. Here's the deal;

I have downloaded the website using my Host "One Click Install" at PFPWebHosting.com / Installatron  , the download seemed to have gone down without any issues but when setting up the site's configuration >> Site Option >> and any changes done and try to save will show this error;

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /adminzone/index.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Steeven CHR; Everything else within the site's configuration seems to work except the site's option. I have tried installing several times and tried what you have mention in regard of;

Line 189 of sources/site2.php is:

PHP code

if ((!browser_matches('ie')) && (strpos(ocp_srv('SERVER_SOFTWARE'),'IIS')===false)) header('HTTP/1.0 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable');

Nothing wrong with PayPal or any other settings at least for the moment.. The page does not save, the page is a blank page with the error stated as mentioned above this paragraph.

My hosting provider also though it had something to do with the Mod Security after reviewing the OCPortal> FAQS> Common issues but couldn't figure out what changes was needed and wanted me to check with OCPortal for more information in regard of this issue.

AChris, you also said;
My best guess would be a problem with modsecurity. Poor web host modsecurity settings can often  block submission of forms that include HTML in the option values, which includes some config options.

If the issue is with the "Mod Security" can you please advice the changes that is needed. I have spoken to my hosting provider and they said that this coding issue, they will not touch anything to avoid any future problems that may proceed and the info about Mod Security does not say what was needed to be done...

Almost certainly modsecurity, and I think different to the original issue. The original issue related to the web host turning one kind of error into another, and only happened regarding closed sites. This on the other hand is probably the actual error being reported, and coming from modsecurity, when saving config. Usually the actual filter rule causing the issue goes into the Apache error log, so the host should be able to find it there – or enable additional logging to find it there.

Michael G's report, which came just before yours, is an entirely different thing again.
