Well-settled

Back again with another question.

I am trying to find out what controls the spacer posts, I like this feature a lot!, but I really like the part when you comment on say a gallery image and it adds a thumbnail of the actual image in question.

What would be a really nice feature is if you could add some sort of image thumbnail referencing the page the comments are from like the galleries

I understand this would most likely require custom coding, but thought I could ask if anyone has done anything like this before on there own sites

Thanks Mark

I would imagine for a coder with knowledge of this area that could be a rather quick fix since all the info for the image should be available at the time the post is made and it would simply be a matter of adding a tag for it to the posting routine?

Tracking down the area and figuring out where and how it works would probably take me an hour or 2 but I would guess the fix itself only a few minutes but I am not sure. I can't afford the tracking down time that's why I suggest finding someone who may have played with these areas more.

Thanks for your reply Duck.

Reading my question back, I don`t think I made it as clear as I could.

What I wanted to say was I like the part when commenting on a gallery image, it includes the image and then also the comment underneath this in the spacer post in the forums.

What I want is it to have the same feature when for example you have created a page with some content on, and then added the comments block at the bottom of the page, where it would then attach a thumbnail image of that page, or maybe even a specified image from the page etc, for this to also show up in the forums spacer post.
As at the moment there is only a url link above the post

Ahh I get what you're saying now. Well you would need a coder to do this automatically for you or you could do it manually using one of the many options out there like thumbalizr or shrinktheweb etc.

I'm not aware of any in-built php facility to render a web page on the server and therefore a third party tool would be required if you want the server to generate the web page screenshot.

If you want the web page screenshot to be captured by the user then you would need to integrate something like html2canvas- Take Screenshot of Web Page and Save It to Server (Javascript and PHP) .

To add a specific image instead of a web page screenshot there needs to be a mechanism for the author to select the image.

So any way you slice it, it seems to be a fairly non-trivial task.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .
