Hi Everyone,

For over 10 years I have ran an automotive social portal call MyMopar.com.  The site currently runs on MKPortal, Invision Powerboard 2.X, and Invision Gallery.  I seen that there are several OCP converters out there to make migration easier.  I wanted to ask the OCP veterans out there if all of the converters I would need to make the migration to OCP exist.  I would also welcome any tips I should follow when preforming a migration.

My site currently has approx. 7,300 members, over 2000 gallery images, a couple hundred MKPortal HTML pages and a couple MySQL databases I will need to migrate into the OCP framework so this is no small job.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to your replies.

Richard

Hi,

There's no Invision Gallery importer. Although it is possible to import zip files of images into ocPortal galleries.

Otherwise in theory the rest should all import. If it doesn't please open a free support ticket with a link to a copy of your database SQL dumps so we can debug. Imports often reveal bugs in our importer code (it's hard to get good test data), but we're always happy to fix if given the data.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for the feedback Chris.  If I were to migrate, is there any way for me to install OCP in a different directory from my active site to ensure that the current site is not interrupted with any migration issues and once I am satisfied expose OCP as the home directory/page?

Thanks,
Richard
