Fan in action

I enabled the post to forum option for new content posts like blogs and I noticed this weird thing.

Under the topic title in the forum it says "comment" and a resource ID.

Test Topic
Comment: #news_2

Galleries Home
Comment: #galleries_root

Then if I view a topic it has the title and under the title it shows
Comment: #news_2

and then the content of the post is
This is a spacer post for a website comment topic. The content this topic relates to: Test Topic

Is it supposed to show #news_2 in the forum topic list and in the topic post?

thanks in advance

Yes. It will look prettier in v8 though.

You need to remember ocPortal can't store custom data on the forum because it works with about 6 third party ones too, so it has to use regular forum mechanisms to encode its data.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
