When I lost my websites on Elief.com due to their hosting problem, I decided to rebuild the sites again but try to minimize the changes to ocPortal as much as I could live with and still build my site as needed to do what I want.

When I was configuring the setup during installation I used the Gallery oriented website so I don't require membership to access the site or have a forum as I used to. Now, I do have some regrets about going with such a bare setup but I believe I can live with it this way ...and it makes a much simpler site to have to maintain.

Still during setup I must have chosen or missed something. I now have a Welcome page AND a Site page that are separate pages. You have to go through the Welcome page to gain access to the Site page.

My old site had a combined Welcome and Site page. I have been looking for a switch to combine them but can't find it. From memory I believe in v8 there was a switch in SETUP/CONFIGURATION to set this but I cant locate something in v9 that does the same.

My interest now is when people arrive at my website they don't have to go thru a Welcome page to get to the Site page ...so how do I do this?

Thanks for your help.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

The switch was located in Setup》Configuration》 Site options》 General

Again this reveals there is often a simple path to an alternate way of changing the look or flow of ocPortal.

Thank you for all your help Chris!
