Currently, catalog URLs look like this:

Code

http://xxxxxxx.com/catalogues/category/image-gallery/portraits.htm?catalogue=image_gallery
or
http://xxxxxxx.com/catalogues/entry/image-gallery/julian-ritter-pics/julian-ritter-painting.htm?root=13

Are there plans to provide clean URLs for the catalog view?

The first example there seems to be given out by the Site Tree. We'll change that, but you can remove ":catalogue=image_gallery" from the link manually.

The second case seems to come from the breadcrumbs. We'll resolve that too.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I am not sure what your saying here, Chris.

The URLs provided were from the actual URL displayed in the address when visiting those pages. It seems to me that when "Short URLs" is enabled, the ":catalogue=image_gallery" should be stripped automatically as is the case for other parts of ocP where the URLs are clean.

I'm confused but would love to be put straight.

My point is that bits of code are putting it in when it need not be put in. The links the Site Tree gives out (which is used for the recommendations for what to put on menu items), and the breadcrumbs.

So my understanding is that you will be removing the ":catalogue=image_gallery" from whatever bits of code are putting it in including the Site Tree Editor and breadcrumbs as well as anywhere the URL is generated.

Is this correct?

Thanks, Chris.

Just wanted to make sure I understand to temper my expectations, if necessary.
