Hello can some kind person just clarify that this is the correct behavior, in our forum we have just gone live with, users are receiving multiple notifications of replies to the same monitored topic instead of just one.

So basically on a very busy forum, like ours is you might receive 10+ emails for the same topic, I understand that for each notification it does send the actual post reply being made but you will read these when you visit the topic again.

On a lot other forums you only receive one email until you visit the topic in question and not concurrent emails notifying of each and every reply, is there a way to set it up this way in the notification settings area?

That's not a feature currently. I have added it to the tracker for possible future implementation 0000961: Smarter topic notifications - ocPortal feature tracker.

It should be possible now for them to change all their topic notifications to weekly digest ones, which should make future automatic ones (setup when they post) to also take on those same settings. Weekly digest notifications do require the scheduler to be configured.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
