I am trying to alter the default theme to incorporate my own logo and I cant figure out how I can change the colour of the main header across the top
I tried changing the colour code in this section

Code

.global_top {
    background-color: #236b8d; /* {$,topcolor, 100% bgcol } */
    {+START,IF,{$NOT,{$CONFIG_OPTION,fixed_width}}}
        -webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 2px 2px #426aa9; /* {$,wizard, 100% seed} */
        -moz-box-shadow: 0 0 2px 2px #426aa9; /* {$,wizard, 100% seed} */
        box-shadow: 0 0 2px 2px #426aa9; /* {$,wizard, 100% seed} */
    {+END}

when I then click on home it still looks the same.

do I need to do anything else,

Thanks;)

STOP! Don't!

Edit global.css of your own 'custom theme' (I am assuming you have built your own custom theme?).

Then clear the caches using the Admin tools (Admin Zone » Tools » Website cleanup tools) and see if it has taken.

If not you may need to add something like …
background-image: url("{$IMG,header}");
… to .global_top of your custom global.css where 'header' is the name of your logo image, preferably a PNG with a transparent background, to sit over the colour you've chosen.

PT me if I am not making myself clear and you need more information.

 :thumbs:

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

If you haven't already found it have a look at the popup menu in the footer of your website when you are logged in as admin (select page rendering tool). The Contextual CSS Editor makes it easy to find and edit what you need too.  :)
