Hi,

What URL does your member receive this error on?

I can't see anything within the lost password module that would cause this, so I suspect some kind of misdirection has happened before that module was reached.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Is the member staff but not an admin? If so I think I've found a bug that could cause it.
To fix this bug, change 'is_super_admin' to 'is_staff' on line 520 of sources/ocf_members_action.php.

The answer to my question would help me narrow down the problem: is the member changing their password non-staff, staff, or an administrator?

I've just run a test and the problem I picked up on did cause the error, but the fix I suggested did also fix the error.

Therefore either there is another problem, or the fix hasn't been applied correctly.

If there is another problem, I'll need to know some more information:
  • does this happen when the password is not changed? (the profile is edited, but the password is not changed)
  • do you have any custom profile fields that have "Owner settable" disable (i.e. read-only fields)

Phillip had done some custom work on this site, but I do not have all the files or know what all he did.

I do have an ocf_members_action.php in my source_custom folder.

I am using the latest version of OC.

Aha, this explains it. Please make the change on your sources_custom version. The line number will be approximately the same.
