bunch of questions

Hello all

I have few questions about cedi. It looks like excellent tool, but doesnt work for me. I may be have lost among the posts abut different versions of OCP. I have v3.1 installed.

1. What are exact steps to show CEDI statistics in the common stats block if the CEDI is moved to custom zone?
(In configuration page I have checked CEDI to show stats)

2. What are exact steps to show user-friendly URLs? Does this apply to the whole portal, or only to CEDI module?

3. What are steps for search in cedi to work? Now I use common search. But this doesnt work. I always get the same answer after some waiting: "The requested item could not be loaded by the proxy. Document contains no data". I have tested search on others OCP sites. It takes some time, but still it works.

4. Is it possible to have several page-trees in one copy of cedi? Or is it possible to have two copies of cedi?

5. When I attach a picture or file to cedi article, where is it stored? (CEDI is in the custom zone)

6. Is it possible to to list pages alphabeticaly, and not by ID number (i mean, in the pages and in the admin's dropdownbox)

7. I have noticed the separate page "cedi_tree_made.htm" in Site zone. I tried to move it to Enciklopedija zone, where my CEDI now is located, but I got this answer:

WARNING [2] ftp_rename() [function.ftp-rename]: Rename /public_html//Enciklopedija/pages/html_custom/LT/cedi_tree_m
ade.htm: No such file or directory.
and below this:
In actual fact, a deferred error (see above) has proven critical and execution has been terminated.

Thank you

Hopefully I can look into 1-3 tomorrow, as these shouldn't be issues.

4) ocPortal supports a system of 'virtual roots' whereby URLs can be constructed that for subsystems so that it looks like there are different content collections. CEDI doesn't seem to have them so I'll look into if this can be enabled.

5) uploads/attachments

6) I'll get back to you on this.

7) Looks like a bug – I'll get back to you.

This isn't exactly a helpful reply from me I know, but it's getting late and I have work tomorrow. I'm hoping to look into all this tomorrow, or the weekend.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Another one

In cedi we have a Page name in title=1 letters and the same name in the breadcrubs with the link to the page where we already are. Is it possible to take the last link out of breadcrumbs

The sources/hooks/blocks/side_stats/stats_cedi.php file was missing on your install. I've put it back and the stats are now back.

Rename plain|recommended.htaccess to .htaccess and enable in the configuation. It applies
I see it's now working on your site. The problems before were problably webhost issues.

What are steps for search in cedi to work? Now I use common search. But this doesnt work. I always get the same answer after some waiting: "The requested item could not be loaded by the proxy. Document contains no data". I have tested search on others OCP sites. It takes some time, but still it works.

It seems to be working on your site for me. The common search works for CEDI as long as it gets ticked in the list of search types. Or you can click the "Search" button from within CEDI, which'll go to the advanced search screen to perform a detailed CEDI-only search.

Is it possible to have several page-trees in one copy of cedi? Or is it possible to have two copies of cedi?

Only staff see the last bit as a link. What it should do is if you click it is if turns the page your at into a page without a breadcrumb trail at all. In other words it makes it so the current page works as the root of a tree. The idea is you can then take the URL out of the address bar and use it as something you direct members to (via your menu, for example). This concept is used across ocPortal, for all tree-based modules.
That wasn't quite working right, so I've uploaded a small change for it [note to other readers – Mindaugas gave me access].

You could remove the last bit if you wanted with some template editing, but I don't know what exact edit would be required without hunting around a bit.

Is it possible to to list pages alphabeticaly, and not by ID number

That's a fair criticism. I'll treat it as a bug - a fix has already been uploaded to your site.

i mean, in the pages

If you're referring to the list of child-pages as shown under a page, you'll need to order these manually on the edit-tree screen, but it should be really easy as you're typing them in there manually anyway.

I have noticed the separate page "cedi_tree_made.htm" in Site zone. I tried to move it to Enciklopedija zone, where my CEDI now is located, but I got this answer:

I have fixed the underlying problem on your site, and a fix to prevent the cause will be provided in the next patch release.
