Are you asking how to do a catalogue CSV import to import full category data?

If so, this isn't a feature at the moment. You can only import entries, which may imply new categories via the category titles, but as I think you've noticed, this would leave descriptions initially blank.

OK TY..
Just so i get this straight!

If I have an empty catalogue
I Cannot  import  > category|title|field

so the closest I can get is to make my categories then import |title|field
and go into each one and re-select parent category.

To be honest, I am having a very hard time understanding what you are writing.

I Cannot  import  > category|title|field

What is the ">" for? Are you just using it to mean "the following"?

What are the "|" for? Are you using it to separate the fields you wish to list together?

What is "category"? Is it a reference to a category already created, the full details of a new category, or the title of a new category?

What is "field"? Is it a placeholder for multiple fields you are trying to import?

re-select parent category

This is the first time the concept of category parents has been brought into the topic, so I'm not sure how it relates to what else has been written here.

Please provide much more detail, I think only you understand your short-hand here ;).

Where would I put a question about importing data?

Was this the wrong place to post that?

FYI: I figured it out. I expotred the data …looked a the headers and found that Categories was spelled as  CATEGORIES (all caps). this fixed the isssue .
I was able to import categories and the fields in a catelogue.
