I checked the bugs db and didn't see this issue listed but I have made a catalogue of games and started putting entries in. My other catalogues I have made seem to work fine but the games catalogue I have as a Image Grid and the links for all except the first item (Call Of Duty which goes to catalogues/entry/games-home/call-of-duty.htm) are linking to catalogues/category/games-home.htm has anybody had this issue before and know a cause? I am too tired to debug right now but if I get no word by the morrow I suppose I'll try and figure out why it is happening.

BTW I just switch to field list to see if there is any dif and the items do not have the "go to" link except the CoD first item.

Hi,

You found a small bug there.

The grid view is assuming that it can link to the entry screen, but actually we have this rule (from the docs):
Note that if you set all fields of your catalogue to "Display in category-views" and disable comments and ratings and trackbacks, there will be no links to the entry view screen. This is due to there being little purpose in this screen because everything already displays on categories.

I'm about to post a hotfix which will make the default grid template a bit smarter in the case of not being able to link or if there is no thumbnail to show.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Oh cool thanks. Yeah I don't think I remember reading that line from the docs but it certainly makes sense. I will double check to make sure not all data is displaying on the category view.
