ocPortal 9.01

Greetings,

I have an odd issue that I didn't used to have, at least not until the recent update to 9.01.

The issue is this:

In the chat room, if I scroll down or up to read any missed chat messages, the messages disappear during the scrolling and remain invisible for a few minutes after the scrolling has stopped. I have to wait a few more minutes before the text reappears.

Here is a screenshot of what I am talking about:

Any ideas?

If you inspect the area with the browser tools, does content show in there?

My suspicion is a rendering problem in Firefox on Linux.

Have you double checked against another browser?

It does appear to be a firefox issue. I just tried it with another browser and it worked fine.

Inspect elements shows that the message is there. So I am not sure what could be the cause here…. Something javascript or flash related maybe?

If you try turning off CSS styles in Firebug, is there a specific style you can turn off, or perhaps toggling any causes a general repaint?

What happens if the browser window is resized or you select the text?

I toggled the styles that dealt with chat messages and the chat room in general with firebug, it still happened.

If I drag my mouse cursor around while the text is still invisible, the "By:mythus" control box at the bottom of each chat window appears and then disappears again, reappearing after the few minute wait for the room text to repaint itself.

Changing the size of the window had no effect. Furthermore, using the main scrollbar did not cause any disappearing effect. Only if I used the secondary scrollbar that scrolls the chatroom itself and not the main window, does the text disappear. Hope that makes sense.

I couldn't reproduce on Mac. You're best off reporting this to the Firefox people. It is something like "text in dynamically grown overflow:auto region not rendered once scrollbar appears, except after waiting a few minutes". I would try seeing if you can disable OpenGL in Firefox or something similar, could be some kind of graphics card issue.

The odd this is this is a new issue.

…. could be from a recent firefox update.

Just a note: Firefox 15.0.1
