Capitalization problem with usernames

Does anyone know how to make username capitalization not matter when logging in? I created a username "SweetSally" on my site but if I try to login with  "sweetsally" it says "The member does not exist". I can only login if I type the username exactly as "SweetSally". (I created the same username, "SweetSally" here on ocPortal and was able to login, even typing  "sweetsAlly", so I'm thinking it must be a setting somewhere on my site)

Thank you very much!

Your database probably has a case sensitive collation, you should be able to change it in something like phpMyAdmin, but I'm afraid I don't have time to give exact details.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
