Can the "Root" label be changed?

It's just so techy....

In various places, the word "Root" pops up where my users would see it.  For instance, if I'm in one of the forums, the breadcrumb shows "Forum root" and then the forum name. I think it does the same thing with Website root.

Is there a way to change this to say, for instance, "Forum Home" rather than Root?  Root is a very techy, programmer-y kind of word, and not something I think a bunch of chefs (who are my intended members) are really going to be comfy with.  Obviously, this is not a totally critical thing, just one of those little touchy-feely things that can make a site feel friendly or cold and impersonal.

Any comments?

Valerie

Yeah, you can edit the root forum and give it any title you like. You'll find a 'Forums' configuration section in the Admin Zone (under the 'Structure' tab if I remember correctly).

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Chris,

If I remember reading correctly if the Root is changed to something else and you already have names setup on the site wont this cause some link breaks? Or will the pages redirect?

The "Root Forum" is actually the forum '1'. The title is only for display purposes.

This is pretty much as things are across ocPortal - ID's/codename's are separate to titles.
