I have two blocks on the top of the start page. They are Image of the day and weather. They are not aligning and I can't find a reason for it. Take a look here. Also, I have a Main-Content block showing random images from the gallary. I have a caption above which says "Every day pics" but the block title is "image". Why can't I change the block title to "Every day pics". It just seems my guests aren't going to care if the block is an image block. It doesn't look good.

Thanks for the help.

Post your code from the front page, David. That might offer a clue!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Hi, will get back to you about the image display in a few mins.

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

The images (and videos) awards always show a static title, which I agree sucks. I end up working around it myself fairly often, so I've just made a little addon to do what I do:

Attachment

(it'll remove the boxes)

The reason it happens is, for consistency, each award content type is put in a box, and each box is meant to be self identifying from someone who does not know the context. In many scenarios though, as you've found, it's ugly and redundant. We need really to implement a proper system where each content type is shown via a specific template (i.e. customisable), but that is tied into some major re-architecting we want to. The awards system (which main_content is part of) is relatively new to ocPortal still.

Thanks Chris, that fix worked great.

Now for the alignment.

Harry-S, was the code you displayed for the alignment? If so, how do I use it. I tried replacing the
current code blocks with yours but got an error.

he strange, because I use this on serveral places :) yes it was to align the boxen to the top. You need the  code in to one line without returns. I think this causes the error

I can't seem to post the code. I get errors there too.

I give up! I need help with code but ocportal keeps trying to correct the code itself and
errors out. O' well.
