Hi, I want current members of my ocportal powered site to continue being able to login but want it to be not possible for a new prospective member to be able sign up.

Sorry if this is super simple and obvious, I had a look through the site options and member options in the backend and couldn't find an option and thought i'd ask this question before looking any further. hey maybe it's not possible to do

thanks

Just had a quick look at the options and I can't see anything like that.

A simple workaround though would be to go to Home » Admin Zone » Setup » Configuration » Member and forum options and select Invites enabled and set Invites per-day to 0.

That will only allow new sign-ups via invitation, but will not allow any members to actually send invites.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

Just set page permissions on the join module.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks Temp1024, that looks like it would have been a great workaround, Thanks Chris I changed the module permissions this way. Really glad I asked, I wouldn't have figured it out myself and this was the solution I needed. :)
