Well, today I finally did a soft launch of the site. I've been sending invitations (thank you, Chris) to a special group of people which will expand over the next couple of weeks.

There is still much to be done on the site but my primary focus is content - I have pictures of 30 paintings here and another 150 or so on the way. I also have five very large volumes of documentary material - a large portion of which has not yet been used.

This has been a really fun project for me and I am really thankful for the help I've received in these forums. I hope I am soon able to be more helpful here myself.

And a special thank you to Chris and his team for making such a great product available for free. I not only have a solid foundation, I have a lot of additional features which I can implement over time without the many headaches when doing such with other CMS products.

So, yahoo for me - I finally sort of made it. I'll update once the site is generally available.

It did feel good. The artist's son and daughter really like the way it has com together - they're more satisfied than I am. I still ned to work on theme colors but I am also going to wait to see the rest of the new themes from ocProducts and maybe go that route until I can do a real custom design.

Just posted the first semi-nude of a Las vegas showgirl. It definitely catches one's eye in the recently posted paintings block on the front page.

I am trying to find her because she was one of Julian's favorite models and was quite a good friend. I'd love to interview her.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Chris-

It is amazing the number of people that search Google with those terms.

Kinda scary to me.
