Based on some valuable research that Chris G did personally on our website, it was recommended that we set base_url in info.php to something besides blank.

I set mine to "http://myWebServer/ocportal/index.php", but now the login and home pages seem to have lost all their formatting, gone nutty. Set base_url back to blank, site is beautiful again. Any suggestions on what this setting should be?

Thanks

I don't think you should be including index.php, try it without. Not sure if you need the / after ocportal either, but not so sure on that one.

did it. Thanks King Bast!. I have no idea why, but it worked. Maybe it is allowing PHP to find "other" content.

Yeah, it's just defining the path to the directory ocPortal is installed in, which is pretty vital info really. Glad you've got it sorted.

Think of it as what ocPortal has to put on the start of any URL to make it a world-wide URL, minus the final slash. We don't put the final slash on there because some people think we might not, and we'd rather accidentally have two than none at all.

If you bear that in mind, it's easy to remember how it looks.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
