Banners and centered nav menus

I notice Joe on his site http://www.ts2s.net/and Amichan on her site http://otakuplayground.com/ both have banner headings with centered nav menus. Is that fairly straight forward to do? And if so, could someone please show me how?

its very easy to achieve this all you have to do is edit your global.css scroll down until you see .global_zones and directly below that you'll see text-align: right; change that to text-align: center; you may also choose to get rid of the background gradient while your there and then just upload your new banner image and adjust your logomap in your site options to match the new logo banner accordingly.

I'm not real big on building skins as of right now but if you would like some custom graphics done for your site I am more than willing as long as I have the time. -\-PhrozenStudios-/-

Aldun - you are a star.

However, any idea how to center it? I have been mucking about with it for ages, but can't seem to get it centered.

Where do I find the global.css?

../themes/default/css unless you are using a 'custom' theme in which case you should look in that folder instead of 'default'.

Good luck.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Hello,

It's best to edit this file via the ocPortal theme editing functionality. This is because this will automatically refresh the cached copy of this file whenever it is edited.

To edit this file from in ocPortal, go to the Admin Zone, then the 'Styles' section, then the 'Themes' icon. You'll see an option to edit the CSS for every theme – when you pick the right link for your theme you'll see you're given the choice of what file to edit, and global.css is one of them.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I recommend making a new theme if you haven't already so that you leave the "default" theme alone. That way in case you make a mistake, it's easy to go back to the default theme later.
