Latest version

I have gone through most if not all the back threads related to banners. I understand how to insert the information in the form and how to set the permissions in the form to use the banners. My problem is that the banner I upload does not display on the site. I am wonder if I still need to delete the default banners as stated in the older versions. I thought I read Chris say this was all fixed in the newer versions?

I was hoping to keep the default banners. I even reset the importance on them and changed the other information on them to keep them from showing, but they keep showing.

Thank you for the assistance. I am still loading and playing with all the functions and really like the layout of OcPortal.

The site is www.Rangerops.com

Please attach a screenshot of the editing form for your banner and I'll see if I can identify any issue with that.

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

It's probably also worth making sure you haven't accidently installed software that might be filtering the banner ads out of your web browser.

I can see the default banners on top of the page.

I see the upload banner only in the menu part not in the top right where the default banners are displayed.

From Admin Centre>Content>Banners>add>

Again thanks for your assistance.

You should leave the 'Banner type' field blank :). It is intended for advanced usage, for those adding more than one banner rotation to their site (each rotation taking banners from one of the types).

I'll make this clearer for version 3.

Edit:
The new description for that field will be as follows:
You should leave this blank, unless you would like to assign this banner as a specific banner type. There are no hard-coded types, so you may make them up as you wish: but a banner will only be shown if the banner.php script is called up asking to display banners of its type. An example banner type might be 'skyscraper', and those would be shown if an iframe to 'banner.php?type=skyscraper' was placed in an appropriate place in the templates.

Thank you, but it is still not showing.

Do I still need to delete the original banners?, or remove delete them from the banner type field on them as well.

Ok disregard the above. I figured it out playing around with it..

I still think the instructions are a little confusing, but after playing around with it and looking at the url for the other banners understand what you mean.

Thanks again for the help

If you can please point us to documentation that you find confusing, we'll make our best efforts to improve them for our next release. :)
