Issue with playing an audio file when viewed with a smart phone

Folks are able to play my audio files in my gallery the first time they visit using their IPhone or Smart Phone, but if they return to the gallery at a later date when they click on the audio file it isn't playing.  What could be causing this?

I couldn't find an issue when I tested just now.

I did notice it didn't play immediately when I touched the quicktime play button (it's playing via the browsers default audio plugin rather than HTML5, but that's fine). It buffered a bit, then started playing – or I could force it by pressing play.

I did notice that there was no volume control. Perhaps they had their phone muted and did not realise, and saw no volume control.

Or perhaps it was taking a while to buffer.

I did find some mobile-layout issues with the gallery video browsing/screen, and I've fixed them all on your site. I'll also post a hotfix for other users.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
