Honoured member

I am receiving the following error:

An image code (ocf_default_avatars/default_set/cool_flare) was referenced that does not exist

It is linked to my news and from the wording clearly an avatar image. Due to site design all member photo modules have been uninstalled and are not wanted. However this has caused a number of issues, this error primarily, but in addition leaving holes in the template (theses I can manually fix) however is there another solution?

Please let me know how to fix this error, hopefully without the need/requirement to enable and reinstall member photos/avatars.

Did you remove the ocf_member_avatars addon? I suspect the ocf_avatars one was removed (provides many images) but not ocf_members_avatars (enabled avatar functionality).

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Adding this to docs…

If you don't want the avatar feature (many modern sites prefer to keep just photos), you can uninstall the ocf_member_avatars addon. This will make member photos show where avatars normally would. Don't get confused with addon naming – ocf_avatars contains default avatar choices, but ocf_member_avatars contains the functionality itself. If you just remove ocf_avatars you'll probably end up with users with broken avatar images.
