Allowed memory size exhausted

I created a new Calalogue called Paleo News and uploaded 1052 news stories - these are not full stories but rather links, headliness date, short summaries and reporting agency name. What does this error mean? is it something I can fix ?

It appears to have uploaded all the stories, the csv file was only 313 KB so that is not big at all. It is when I try to use the control function EDIT CATALOGUE that I get this message:

Critical error - bailing out

This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occured during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occured before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.

Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 26544 bytes)

Details here are intended only for the website/system-administrator, not for regular website users.
If you are a regular website user, please let the website staff deal with this problem.

Depending on the error, and only if the website installation finished, you may need to edit the installation options(the info.php file).
ocProducts maintains full documentation for all procedures and tools. These may be found on the ocPortal website . If you are unable to easily solve this problem, we may be contacted from our website and can help resolve it for you.

ocPortalis a CMS for building websites, developed by ocProducts.

Hi,

Could you give us the URL (can be censored [cut short] if you like) so I can get an impression of what screen type produces the error. Also how is your catalogue setup, is it tabular for example?

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

The URL Where the news is listed and after I click on the CATALOGUE
/site/index.php?page=catalogues&type=index&id=paleo_news

/site/index.php?page=catalogues&type=category&id=pal
eo_news_2

Also I was mistaken where I said 'when I try to use the control function EDIT CATALOGUE that I get this message'

It happens when I click on the link to open the CATALOGUE

Hi,

Over the last couple of days we've been investigating memory issues like this, and we have made some optimisations which will be in the next 4.3 release that should solve these problems.
However, you can safely try to just raise your memory limit. Read the "Why do I get blank pages? OR, Why do I get errors saying the script has run out of memory?" question in our FAQ.
