can't upload to the gallery as a video .swf files

Chris Graham said

Ok Fletch, I made a real mess of this. Please rename flvplayer.swf back to how it was originally. Now I will go through the full set of fixes/changes needed to make this work:
  • Copy in the template file I posted above (you've done this already)
  • Save flvplayer.swf to the 'data' directory (you'll just need to rename yours)
  • Edit line 495 of sources/support.php to reference flvplayer.swf not flv_player.swf.
  • Add 'flv' to the list of allowed file types in your configuration. (In the configuration it's under the 'Security/group options' section)
  • When you add you will need to give a width/height/length, as this is not auto-detectable for our FLV files support.

I am using 5.1.0 beta1 version

I can't seem to be able to upload a .swf file

.swf is already a allowed file type in the configuration

all allowed file types are in adminzone/index.php?page=admin_config&type=category&id=SECUR
ITY are

for Valid file types: swf,sql,odg,odp,odt,ods,ps,pdf,doc,ppt,csv,xls,docx,pptx,xls
x,pub,txt,psd,tga,tif,gif,png,bmp,jpg,jpeg,flv,avi,mov,mpg,mp
eg,mp4,asf,wmv,ram,ra,rm,qt,zip,tar,rar,gz,wav,mp3,ogg,ogv,to
rrent,php,css,tpl,ini,eml

Thanks
anyone else having any issues?

I have this 'test' video to which I am partial when testing something video-related.

Take a look … (the girl has legs that go all the way to her armpits, and now that winter is fast approaching I am hoping that she will 'deliver' one of these days)!!

Oh, forgot to mention, the vid is in FLV format and not SWF. I too am using 5.1.0 beta1 so I'll have a look to see if I can find an SWF to upload to see if I get the same issue as you.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Seen the video.
The problem the upload for the "downloads" seem to work, but the upload into the gallery doesn't work for me for this file type I have not tried all file types, you can download a .swf on my test site in the downloads section. (its a game)

btw you are showing html when I got an account
something about white text.

Thanks

You've got me totally confused now!

The vid is in the Gallery and was uploaded to the server using the ocP upload tool.

I have an SWF that you can view here, which was uploaded to a forum, but I think I FTP'd this one so that I could align it in the post the way I wanted, not the way the 'attachment' feature does it.

What was the 'html' about white text about? I haven't seen that during my 'Guest' and 'Member' (SU) tests, so it would be helpful if you could expand. Thanks.

I've battened down the hatches for 'Guests' viewing the vids to conserve bandwidth. Sorry, forgot about that when I gave you the link.

'Veteran' is close to the mark. Only a few days before my 66th. Us Brits celebrate the 11th of the 11th as 'Armistice Day', more commonly known as 'Remembrance Day'. And as an ex-serviceman I acknowledge the day with a certain amount of reverence for those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

My apologies for the confusion.

The html error displaying on you site is on the last page after I was done registering before I was automatically logged in, Sorry I can't remember the html text all I remember is html link text color.

Today is our American Veterans day as you know your 'Armistice Day', more commonly known as 'Remembrance Day' to you.

Have you tried to upload using ocPortals tool into the gallery an .swf file?

Thanks

Thanks for the pointer. I tracked the little devil down (a custom edit in my ocf.ini file) and have now edited it after joining my own site as test-dummy, which I thought was appropriate!

I haven't tried uploading an SWF into the gallery yet, but I will give it a try tomorrow (3:30 am here) as soon as I've surfaced.

Will let you know how it goes …

@Violative

Update:

I can confirm that SWF is NOT considered an 'allowed' file type when trying to upload to a Gallery.

Perhaps the staff will look into this?

Yes, SWF's are not handled as videos in ocPortal, the gallery system doesn't have support for them. It's not a matter of turning something on, it'd need some new code writing to support them.

At some point we may be merging our handing of animation/video file-types for attachments, Comcode and galleries, in which case it'd probably be supported.

Yes, thank you that is something to look forwards to.
I'll be keeping an eye out for this file type support for the Gallery.

Thank you Chris.
