Alignment error for certain pages when using fixed width ocPortal

Hi all, below 2 images are what i get when i used fixed width on ocPortal. Is there any ways to solve this alignment problem?
Note: Some of the pages' content are being block by the helper_panel.

I put a fixed-width on my site too and I'm having the same problem.

I can't tell you how to fix it, but a small temporary fix until someone can help you would just be to X out the helper panel (you can find a little 'X' at the top-right of the panel; click it to close the panel).

To Joe, hope someone is able to solve this problem if not it will be quite a hassle that users have to go and click the "X" every time when he/she encounters pages that are "3/4". LOL

Try turning off the help panel and that should help.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Code

:set_value('hide_help_panel','1');

type that in your consol and it should get rid of the help menu

I'm not real big on building skins as of right now but if you would like some custom graphics done for your site I am more than willing as long as I have the time. -\-PhrozenStudios-/-

Reply to all, I know the code for turning off but what if i want my users to view the helper content? Is there any way to make the content fixed to that width?

not that I know of but I have suggested running it vertically like IPB does.

Hi,

What we suggest in the fixed-width tutorial is to not make the Admin and CMS zones fixed-width, but let the rest of the zone's be fixed width. There's some sample code for that in there.

Alternatively, it is always possible to restyle the Help Panel, if you're proficient enough in XHTML/CSS/Javascript. From the layman's perspective though, that'd be a very hard task.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
