Read FAQ.

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

is it a bug as it works on 7.1 and does not work on 7.1.4 and can see any help in FAQ for this problem..
I install 7.1 and can get it to work on a vitrual server.
on a 7.1.4 it does not.
Was going to try to update from 7.1 to 7.1.4 but Cannot connect to the ocProducts server.

It's a mod_security problem, I think the FAQ describes '500' errors like this and talks about .htaccess. Also your web host may help you, it's their configuration blocking you.

I don't know, but it's a server-level error so outside the scope of ocPortal. We've had many reports like this over the years, it just comes down to mod_security being stupid and breaking normal expected web behaviour.

"and why just javascript.. can post html and txt in OK?"

mod_security thinks you're a hacker by submitting the form with code in it.

"also when is"

now :)

The best thing to do is to talk to your web host, they are screwing up your hosting.

Hello,
The link to the demo directs to a members only area. I was trying to use the demo on the ocPortal site by way of Microsoft WebMatrix. An exact step by step instruction how to add Adsense to content and other areas of the ocPartal sites would be very helpful. Has anyone been able to figure this out?

Clear your browser cookies also. If you make a ton of edits and you're going  back and forth during those edits via your browser arrows and not within ocPortal (sounds like a prime candidate) you will build up autosave cookies and eventually your browser fills to the max for that domain and it pukes out a 500's time out warning.  Worth a shot. I have went over the cliff a couple times, only to find my surfing caused a massive build up of auto saves. Its a trade off and par for the course, because the auto save has saved me. I am believing it is set to on by default. ;) Good luck.

The step by step way to add Adsense-so far…
First, sign in to your website with admin privileges.
Find the page you want to add the Adsense code too, we will call it "mypage" and click on it.
Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page and on the left side you will see:"Control functions : Edit this page | Add child page"
Click on "Edit this page"
There you will see the "Disable WYSIWYG editing" link on the upper right hand side.
If you disable the WYSIWYG, then you can insert the Adsense code. If you preview it then the code will display the ads.
At this point WARNING if you re-enable WYSIWYG then you may NOT see the Adsense ads. Only a white "cannot display…" box will show.
Also, upon doing this I could not get back all of the WYSIWYG editor!
Only six blue boxes "add block", "Comcode add tag", "page", "quote", "add box", and "code" did appear.
I tried restoring my page, clearing my browser and restating Webmatrix all to no avail.

Maybe someone with a live website can use these steps to determine if the ads show after saved.
If not, let me know and I will save the Adsense code to a document and put the code in a Iframe linking to the document.

I have spent numerous hours since early in the morning(s) trying to figure this out.
Through trial and error, the page breaks or a stack error occurs and I have to start all over.
Until a module, for example something like a PayPal module, is created or a tag or Adsense is made, then it will always be a hack to insert the ad, or any javascript, code.
I give up.
If anyone has any questions you can email me at info@onefatherslove.com or contact me through the contact form at onefatherslove.com
Thank you,
Victor
