I have nothing against OCPortals Newsletter system, in fact I like it a lot. My problem is that early on my domain got blacklisted on a few sites so I moved all of my Newsletter correspondence to a system called aWeber which can be found at www.aweber.com It is a very nice system for Newsletters and Auto-responders that has a very high deliverability rate.

My question is, is there any way to embed any of my sites info into the Newsletters. aWeber uses standard HTML for creating it's Newsletters and what I would like to do is embed my upcomming Calendar events which on my site is produced with the line

I would also like to add the site stats to the Newsletter. My guess is that I will have to use the code from those modules but I ma not sure how that would be done or if it is even possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You might want to copy and paste from the preview of an ocPortal 'New Content' newsletter.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply but that is what I am doing now. I have a nice template with the Newsletter site that I use and would like to incorporate the Stats and Calendar info into it. I currently cut and paste that info but that is a little time consuming so I would like to have the code embedded into the template so that it just pulls the most recent info from the site.

Thanks anyway, have a great day, can't wait to see version 4.0 when it hits the streets…
