Help needed

Hello,

I was wondering, is there a way to add items in the points store? The content currently in the point store doesn't really "go" with my website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Kind Regards,
Joe

What kind of content are you looking to add?
If it is downloads, in the downloads section you can charge points for each download.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

At the moment you cant add anything into the point store, but if i recall right in the next version ( or a later version ) there should be a option to add stuff into it.

:D  Dont shoot the messenger!!  :D

I guess a warning in your line of work tends tomean 'run for cover'. Fortunately it's not so severe when it comes to computers ;).

Actually, if you can code PHP, you can add new products to the point store in version 3. Just add a hook in /sources/hooks/modules/pointstore/. :)

Are the ebooks for download as it might be easier to add them to the downloads.

I'm afraid we can't feasibly provide that level of support to an unregistered user.

"Are the ebooks for download as it might be easier to add them to the downloads."

Yes, a book for downloading. Let me explain a little, I sell a book for bodybuilding and fat loss, I also supply specialist software custom-built to accompany my program. That is my core business.

I would like to add a community area to my site for those following my plan, or any plan, to have their own blogs, chat on the forum etc.

I already have such a system but it's a bolted together monster of Profile Manager Premium, B2evo blogs, a custom-built private home page thingy, with phBB intergrated.

Because it is so many different programs bolted together (my site has 12 databases) it's a pain to update/upgrade - also it is either paid member or nothing. If you purchase my book or software you access the members area, where you have everything. As a member of the public you can read members blogs and see their public profile, that's it.

Here's my public profile:

http://www.biggly.com/bigglyblog/Wiggly/

What I really want is an all-in-one solution that's easy to maintain, and importantly gives a stepped membership level. Guests, registered, then higher levels for those with high 'karma', up to and including earning the book and or software freebies, with paid members receiving personal attention and mentoring from myself and perhaps highly experienced members.

So it's the stepped membership thing that I really need, also need a member's photo gallery.

As for not being a registered member, sure, I've only just downloaded it and am checking it out.

This is the phpfox thingy that I'm currently using:

Error Page

Here's my installation of this OC thingy:

Fitness Community

It's debatable which is quicker, but at least this one has functions that may, I think, make it worthwhile waiting for. Phpfox costs $375, so if this works I don't think I'm going to complain about $135 or whatever it is, OK?

So rather than exact code right now, can someone tell me, with confidence, can this do what I need?

And aside from turning off validation and turning on caching, is there anything I can do to make this thing run quicker?

As amichan said, you can attach point costs to downloads, so you could have the e-books as downloads with a 500 point charge for downloading them. :)

I don't now any answer then try a different host? Im hosting my site on a semi shared connection ( reseller level for me, so just a few users on a box) and i do not have ny problems at all, it even has become alot faster and easyer since v1.
