Anyone know where I can add/ edit accesskeys?  I love the ones already in place, but would love having accesskeys for the "Edit" and "Edit this page" functions.  I regularly use them on the sites I code by hand, but this is the first CMS I've seen use them, and they're life savers for a blind guy.  I tried editing

Code

TEMPLATE_EDIT_LINK.tpl
but that didn't do it.

Greetings,

Such permissions can be given in Security: Global Specific Permissions I believe.

If you can't find the permission you are looking for there, you can use Security: Permission Tree Editor. The Permission Tree Editor goes very deep as it has absolutely every permission known to man for ocPortal for every single page, block, module, comcode, etc.. and every single usergroup. So looking in there may take some while and be sure to bring plenty of advil. I would definitely suggest looking in the Global Specific Permissions first as that is easier to go through, but does not have every specific permission…

I may be mistaken but I think the exact permission is in Security: Global Specific Permission: Submission where it has about editing and deleting and all that…

Hi,

(Sorry mythus, you're confusing accesskeys with match-key-permissions – chipster is referring to key shortcuts)

The tricky thing about accesskeys is there are only a few that can be used before they start interfering with normal browser shortcuts. I've reviewed the 'safe' ones, and we have 'Q' available (no others though, unless we start using symbols).
This is quite a tricky change so I'll do it myself for everyone (plus everyone then benefits by default)– but from the new patch release all the edit links will be mapped to 'Q'.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

That is wonderful. Thank you.  I really can't express how much of a time saver these are for blind users.  Think you could add one that would build my site for me?
