Moving forward with Composr

ocPortal has been relaunched as Composr CMS, which is now in beta. ocPortal 9 will be superseded by Composr 10.

Hi- has anyone setup ocPortal to handle the following (and if so, how?):
  1. Members joining the site are requested to choose one of 9 functional areas/regions in a CPF
  2. Approval emails are routed to 1 of 9 specific admins, depending on which of the 9 functional areas/regions input into a CPF by the user are chosen
Or - is there a report where multiple admins can quickly review which users are in pending status so they can approve the users they are responsible for? This would greatly simplify workflow when there are about 1000 users who need to join an ocPortal site – and we won't know who they are in advance, but it would be the responsibility of the respective admin to validate/investigate.

Thanks!

I think 1 could be accomplished with list type, required and show on join (Admin/tools/members/custom profile fields).

Type would be choice (list or radio buttons)
Required should be set.
Show on the join form should be set.

You could perhaps use the Admin/tools/members/download spreadsheet to sort/filter by the field by the field to determine who should validate who (obviously not the most efficient way).

Regards, Mike.

Hello, I'm just wondering if the solution provided above was validated. I have the same problem in as much as I want new members to choose (check a box) as to the membership they want to join initially.

Thanks very much

Just curious…does the usergroups feature of ocPortal not work well enough for these situations, or are there some limitations you aren't able to work around? During signup, new members can be assigned to a primary usergroup that you can set so they won't have many (if any) privileges. Then, you could have secondary usergroups based on areas/regions/memberships and allow members to choose their own secondary usergroup. I think these are also selectable at signup or the user can select a secondary usergroup after signup by going to the usergroups page. You just need to make sure these secondary usergroups are not set to be hidden or open-membership and you can assign them additional privileges if needed. You can also set specific members or admins to be the leaders of these usergroups and these usergroup leaders will get an email to approve or deny new usergroup applications.  A description of the usergroup feature can be found here: ocPortal Tutorial: Creating sub-communities (and sub-sites) - ocPortal.com
