Hi Guys,

I require validation for all my DL's. Until a recent update, my forum posts were still displayed with the Not validated' notice. This was perfect for me as it allowed me time to read them at my leisure. It is very rare that I ever need to edit/delete a post.

Since one of the recent updates, my members forum posts are no longer visible until it is validated for which I'm getting a whole load of grief from members that are in a hurry.

Is there a way that I can circumvent the validation requirement for the forum whilst keeping it for the DL's?

TQ

Hi,

So the validation-bypass privileges (i.e. when adding content) can be overridden per-content-type, but the viewing ones cannot currently.

(for reference this is tracked in this issue 0000101: More permission overridability (per-page/per-category) - Composr CMS feature tracker)

For now you'd need to hack the code.

In these files:
  • forum/pages/modules/topics.php
  • sources/ocf_topicview.php
  • forum/pages/modules/vforums.php
  • sources/ocf_forums2.php
  • sources/ocf_forum_driver_helper.php
  • sources/ocf_forumview.php
  • sources/ocf_topics.php

These substitutions:
has_specific_permission(get_member(),'jump_to_unvalidated') –> true
has_specific_permission(get_member(),'see_unvalidated') –> true
has_specific_permission($member_id,'jump_to_unvalidated') –> true
has_specific_permission($member_id,'see_unvalidated') –> true

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi Chris,

Gave that a try on the live site and trashed everything, error messages by the boat load. Have undone it all for now but wanted to say that I never found:

has_specific_permission($member_id,'jump_to_unvalidated')

.. in any of the files.

Will try again when it's quiet so that I can close the site.

I have a script I can run to validate forum posts which I'll use while I work out what I did wrong.

Thanks as always for your help.

TQ

Oh dear. Probably something like a misplaced bracket. Yeah I don't think has_specific_permission($member_id,'jump_to_unvalidated') exists, I just put it in the set for theoretical completeness. Best to just open all the files in a text editor at once and do search replaces in bulk.
