Well-settled

I was wondering if anybody knew how to make more forums display, it seems to have changed in v9. I have a site with alot of forums so could do with changing the value to a higher one.

Also I was wondering how I can make more information display about my users in the forums too, i.e Their full name below their avatar and maybe some custom info with peoples PSN id's, Steam ID's etc? Any help would be appreciated. :)

Check out my ocportal site: PrecisionRacingLeague.com which will always be on ocPortal - because it's awesome!

User-specific custom info should be stored in custom profile fields.

To display changes you would modify the template that displays the forum rows to include the specific custom profile fields you want.

To edit templates go to Admin Zone Style Manage themes Edit templates .

To find out which template you need to change, go to the page you want to change and select Show template edit links (great for themeing) or Template names as HTML comments (messy) from the dropdown list in the bottom left of the page.

You would use something like this:

Code

{$CPF_VALUE,cpf_field_name_or_id,{MEMBER_ID}}
Where cpf_field_name_or_id is the name or id of the custom profile field you want to display, and {MEMBER_ID} is a named parameter containing the member id.

As the template is already showing other member details, {MEMBER_ID}, or something, similar should be available.

@Chris,

F.Y.I. The tempcode tutorial reference {$CPF_VALUE,Some Custom Field} does indicate that ID is a valid optional parameter.

Think you meant "doesn't" – thanks, fixed in github.

Ok,so when I create a custom field how do it know what it's ID is? (i.e so I know what to put in the squiggly brackets when I am inserting the code)?

Code

{$CPF_VALUE,cpf_field_name_or_id,{?}}

Code

<span style="color: rgb(63, 63, 63); font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 14px; white-space: nowrap; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 253); ">{$CPF_VALUE,cpf_field_name_or_id,{?}}</span>

It will actually be the words MEMBER_ID, ID or something like that. It depends on exactly what template you are using and there should already be a reference to it in the template.

What template do you want to change?

Ok so what I'm looking to do is put a few more bits of infor under the username in the forum when they post.

I've created some custom fields that I want to display which are:

Real Name:
PSN ID:
Steam ID:
GFWL ID:
Region:

If they could only display if the information was inputted by the user that would be even better!

This should do that:

Code

{+START,IF_NON_EMPTY,{$CPF_VALUE,PSN ID,{ID}}}
   <br />PSN ID: {$CPF_VALUE,PSN ID,{ID}}
{+END}
