Fan in action

I want to use a different merchant account/payment gateway to the 3 default providers stated in the e-commerce set-up (Paypal etc). It's for site membership transactions. On the relevant help topic it states

"ocPortal, by default, allows payment via PayPal, WorldPay and SecPay, although it could be extended to support any kind of payment gateway if extended and customised by an appropriate professional"

how do i contact OCportal staff to discuss and arrange this? I don't want to buy ticket points just to ask this but am obviously willing to pay a fee for the work done in setting up my ocportal site to work with a specific merchant account/payment gateway.

Hi there,

You can open up a ticket without having any credits and receive a quote in advance. The only exception to this is emergency-priority tickets, which do require credits in advance.

It usually costs around $1k to implement a new payment gateway, but that's just a ballpark figure. This is roughly one day planning and studying the service, one day implementing, and one day testing and deploying. It does depend though. If something offered a PayPal-compatible API, it would be a whole lot quicker – while if something required us to do local card processing and prepare a full PCI audit, it would probably be a bit longer.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
