It sounds like you are translating but continuing to view in English. Make sure you are set to the language you intended to view in, e.g. in your profile.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

You probably want to set it for the site as a whole, which you can do from /config_editor.php. Alternatively you can edit your profile from the Personal Zone. Lastly you can add a side_lang block and use that to change language on-the-fly.

Hi,

I think we are both having hard time with the language barrier here, and possibly there is a bug or usability problem but I don't know of one.

Could you use "Jing" to record a quick video showing the problem?
Setting the language, making a translation, and then showing it has not worked.

Hi,

When in Spanish the following error comes up in your Firefox error console:
unterminated string literal
[Break on this error] if (!window.confirm('You have chosen …re you wish to contract the help panel.\n

It is because the CLOSING_HELP_PANEL_CONFIRM language string has a line break in it. It should all be on one line. CLOSING_HELP_PANEL_CONFIRM is currently set as <english equivalent>(line break)<spanish equivalent>.

In 4.4 I am making it so that ocPortal can tolerate these linebreaks.

Edit lang_custom/ES/global.ini.
Find the line starting 'CLOSING_HELP_PANEL_CONFIRM'.
Remove the bit of English and the "\n" from it.
Save.

Did you empty the language cache?
Do any other errors appear in the Firefox Error Console?
