Hi everyone,

Code

ocPortal error
Could not connect to database (MySQL server has gone away)

Details here are intended for the website/system-administrator, not for regular website users. If you are a regular website user, please let the website staff deal with this problem.

Depending on the error, you may need to edit the base configuration (the info.php file).

ocProducts maintains full documentation for all procedures and tools. These may be found on the ocPortal website. If you are unable to easily solve this problem, we may be contacted from our website and can help resolve it for you.

Just got this one trying a fresh install on a new host. (ocp installer step 5)
Any idea what could cause this ?

if i were you i'd call the provider and told him that MySQL decided to go on holiday without a replacement in place

Now seriously, i think that OCP cannot connect to the database due to a false name / password or possibly a wrong location specified ( in the case of a remote database, then the path wouldnt be localhost as it is usual).

:D  Dont shoot the messenger!!  :D

I guess a warning in your line of work tends tomean 'run for cover'. Fortunately it's not so severe when it comes to computers ;).

thought about name, password and location, checked, all ok
phoned support, checked with them, can't find what's wrong.
db location is not local host, but correct location specified in the first screen (can connect to database using phpmyadmin using same parameters)

bit lost, there …

Looks like an unreliable database connection. Check the host again, and check to see if it resolves correctly from your web server.
