ocPortal upgrader

This is the ocPortal upgrade tool. This tool is a part of ocPortal, but it is intentionally kept lightweight to keep it working even if ocPortal is partly broken.

Critical error – bailing out

This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occured during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occured before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.

Integrity check

If you think this problem could be due to corruption caused by a failed upgrade (e.g. time-out during extraction), check the following integrity check…

The following files have been superseded by new versions, but you have overrides/customisations blocking the new versions. Look into this and consider reincorporating your changes into our new version. If this is not done, bugs (potentially security holes) may occur, or be left unfixed. If you edited using an inbuilt editor, the file on which you based it will be saved as file.editfrom: you may use a tool such as WinMerge to compare the editfrom file to your own, and then apply those same changes to the latest version of the file.

  • themes/zenlike/templates_custom/BLOCK_MAIN_SEARCH.tpl
  • themes/zenlike/templates_custom/HEADER.tpl
The following original files to these overridden files are actually missing (you can find them in the manual installer ZIP for the version you're running):

  • themes/Urban-theme/images_custom/EN/logo/-logo.png
These files are outdated (you can find the correct versions in the manual installer ZIP for the version you're running; ignore any files that you have knowingly replaced as official bug fixes):

  • themes/default/css/catalogues.css
  • sources/misc_scripts.php
  • sources/database/mysql.php
  • themes/default/templates/CATALOGUE_products_ENTRY.tpl
  • sources/themewizard.php

You're not the first to find this, although I thought it was a problem with corrupt permissions before.

Turns out Windows can't delete a file open for reading, but Linux/Mac can.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
