I'm beginner with ocPortal

Hello folks,

now I have a new install of ocPortal.
Now I have also some question: ;-)

Language:
I need german language support at the side. I download a package launchpad-export.tar.gz from the translatet german at launchpad. What can I do with this file. Must I every file open in Poedit? Save and copy into ocPortal?

Image in Editor:
I want to edit some Pictures in the news editor. What is the smoothest way to do that?

Import SMF 2.0.1
When will it possible to import SMF 2.x to ocPortal? I have 3000 Members and 40.000 Posts.

Thanks and Greetz

Thanks for posting on forum, now that I'm not having to provide support over email i can throw some quick answers your way ;)

Language - the process is laid out in our internationalisation tutorial. Essentially you just dump the .po files in lang_custom/DE.

There's the Aviary addon for image editing, but honestly you're better off just using something like Paint.net on your desktop.

We only have SMF1 support when importing. Currently there's no plans to change this. I appreciate you probably have no budget. If you have someone who can do some PHP coding the SMF1 importer could be upgraded.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Oh, I do not explain my problem exactly. I just want to add a picture to a news, and the uploader  does not his job… ;-)
Therfore I asked: if the is a smarter way to do that. is that a little bit understandable?

If you send me the code, I will have a look.

Okay, I copy all *-de.po files in that directory lang_custom/DE.
Now I have a new button:
Home > Admin Zone > Style > Translate Website Content > German
and try "German" and click "Proceed"

And then comes an error:
Look in the text file.

The Errors are in this text file. Beacuse I miss a "code" button in that editor here.
exapmle:

Code

xxxxx

New error when I want to post a news:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 100 seconds exceeded in /[…]/ocportal/sources/lang.php on line 619
I think, that has to do with the language files.. but why?

ocPortal Tutorial: Localisation and internationalisation - ocPortal.com

Although you seem to have got it going okay, so maybe you don't need that now.

There is a bug in the current version regarding third party forums. Please uninstall the 'custom_comcode' addon (it's bundled, but it causes conflicts).

Regarding images, expand the attachments section of the form.

Regarding that error, I don't know, slow server? Does it happen a lot?
