How do i add a "Submitted by" field in my links catalogue? I know i can add custom fields, but is there any way of making it automatic?

Another example of this…

When i have a link waiting for validation, i can see everything about the link, except the user that has submitted it! Am i missing something really obvious? because, for me, one of the most important things about link submission is knowing who actually submitted it.

themes/default/templates/CATALOGUE_DEFAULT_ENTRY_SCREEN.tpl would need copying to themes/default/templates/CATALOGUE_links_ENTRY_SCREEN.tpl

And then this would need adding:

Code

{$USERNAME*,{SUBMITTER}}

As 'SUBMITTER' is a parameter passed into that.

Meta data such as the submitter is not currently on the edit form. It is on the "choose what to edit" screen for links only if the link catalogue is set to not be a 'tree catalogue', as one of the columns in the table of entries. Otherwise the "choose what to edit screen" is a tree selector so you don't get those columns of information.

At some point we'd like to get a lot of the meta data onto the edit forms as editable fields, so you can change ownership (useful for permission alteration). The tracker issue for it is:
Editable meta data

While i;m on the topic, is there any way to mass edit links / articles? EG; i wanted to move 20 links from one category into another and had to do it one at a time.

Afraid not. Just added to tracker as 0000416: Mass move - ocPortal feature tracker.

Occasionally I want to do this too, but it's pretty rare. I typically either just spend a few minutes doing it by hand (opening lots of tabs and behaving like a robot for a few minutes) or writing some short PHP code to do it.

That's only if someone eventually decides to sponsor it . By making it public that's the first step, people can see it's there, and it provides a focus for discussion on the matter.

Community saint

I've had occasion where I wanted to move r delete a number of items and would like to see the ability to do this with multiple items.

I'd though in copy but that would be unnecessary if we get the multi-catgorization feature which would allow a single entry to appear in more than one category: 0000063: Multi-categorisation - ocPortal feature tracker

I've hit this issue again. When i imported from blogger ocP chose the first catagory as the Main Catagory. This has put all the imported articles (all 300 of them) into the 'News' catagory rather than the 'Blog' catagory. Now i have guest bloggers i really want to put all my articles under the header "Ollie's Blog", so that i can differentiate between my blogs, my guest's blogs, and News.

I cant afford to get this feature paid for, could i have some pointers about the PHP code option?

I don't mind being a robot, but i think i'd have to kill myself if i were to do it 300 times :p

UPDATE ocp_news SET news_category=<new> WHERE news_category=<old>

to move all entries from <old> to <new>

(<old> and <new> are category IDs)
