I'm curious:  The standard uploader (portal wide) doesn't work properly for me, but the "simple uploader" works great.  Is there anyway to set a global parameter so that the "simple uploader" always appears by default?

Thanks!

Mark

What goes wrong, on what version? Have you tried plupload addon?

There is an option under, Admin Zone > Setup > Configuration > Accessibility (off the top of my head).

Hi Chris,

I've experienced the issue on both version 8 and version 9, to where I click the upload link and it basically just hangs (nothing happens) and I have to refresh the page.

Another issue I've noticed is that, if I edit a reply to a posting (as an example), then I click the "use simple uploader" link -- the page will refresh to load the simple uploader, but all the edits I'd made to the post reply, are gone :-(  To me, this is a fairly significant bug, especially if you don't know that it's going to happen and you've spent 5 minutes writing out a detailed response to another persons post.

If I'm missing another setting that will allow OCPortal to 'remember' what was typed into the reply field when changing uploader types, then please let me know.

As for Plupload addon, no I haven't tried it...but on your suggestion, I will.  I'll also have a look at the config settings that you mentioned.

Right now, those are still second on my list to trying to get the direct video working on the v8.14 MPAG site (still no luck...)

Thank you as always for your super speedy responses!!

Mark

This is Adobe Flash being crap, in recent years it's stability has really declined on some systems.

all the edits I'd made to the post reply, are gone

We'll add a warning about this and make the link open in a new tab automatically, so they can be copy&pasted across.

If I'm missing another setting that will allow OCPortal to 'remember' what was typed into the reply field when changing uploader types, then please let me know.

To some extent it auto-saves forms automatically and asks to restore them, but I doubt this worked very well in this case.

As for Plupload addon

This puts in an "HTML5" uploader, and only falls back to Flash on browsers that can't handle that (the web standards involved aren't finalised, and not all browsers support them). The only reason it is not bundled is for licensing reasons and the complexity of it.

Thanks Chris, I've implemented your suggestions and as usual, the issue is resolved :thumbs:

If I could tag on another question (this one should be fairly easy):

If I have the configuration checked to require users to use their full names when they sign up, it removes the "Username" block at the top of the join page and replaces it with just the "*Name" block, which is fine.

In addition, it removes the instructions for user names and simply states "Your name." under the field -- I would like to change that to read:  "Your real name.", but I can't find which template it's stored in??  Does anyone know where this is so I can make the update?

Thank you all.

Try …/lang/EN/ocf.ini

You'll find two entries, and you should choose the one(s) that you wish to make the change(s) to, edit it the way you want it to read, then save it to the relevant '_custom' folder.
_DESCRIPTION_NAME=Your name.
GUEST_NAME=Your name

Done.
