Okay... this just happened today after upgrading.

My signature is now just showing as HTML.  It doesn't seem to impact anyone else, and I have a weird feeling it has to do with the Primary Group I reassigned myself to today.  Here is a pic

It's weird as in the WYSIWYG editor it looks fine, but when it displays, it's all messed up.

Yes Chris, your account is still active with all that good stuff.

Hi,

I thought this was a permissions problem, but actually it is your PHP max_input_vars setting. You are on the default setting, but there's just slightly too much data in the form. It is losing the setting that mentions the signature came from WYSIWYG, so treating it as plain text.

I am working on a workaround.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Ok so the reason there are so many fields on the form, is you have quite a few CPFs and quite a few usergroups: it's the privacy tab. It's using about 80% of the PHP max_post_vars.

I have added an 'All' option onto the privacy settings and made it the new default which is actually a nice feature, as it future-proofs the usergroup selection for people who want all including new groups (that said – it's a bit pointless, because the privacy settings work on an 'or' basis, and you can set it to allow all members which is the same thing). If you change your settings to 'All', it'll stop PHP overloading next time you chose your signature.

I have fixed your signature for now, just bear this in mind next time you edit your profile :).

Just to be clear…

When a form is submitted, HTML specifies that all selected elements in a multi-select list are passed, and each counts separately in PHP's max_post_vars allocation.

Actually I wasn't happy so I've tuned it more. I've removed the 'Members' option from there, and defaulted usergroups to 'All' if members was set previously. So you don't need to change anything now, and the over-specification issue is gone.
