I'm running into a problem on one of my sites that I recently upgraded to 9.0.15.

I have multiple users complaining to me that when they log in and go to the forum, that all their old and previous Private Messages are showing up as unread, and regardless of whether they've actually read them or click the "ignore" link, they continue to show up?

This has to be something that changed in the patch because I didn't have this problem before?  Has anyone else run into this?

I'm searching the bug tracker to see if there's a hotfix out, but if not, I'm wondering just how painful (or even feasible) it would be to revert to a prior version?

Thanks very much

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

I went back to 9.0.13 and grabbed the file from the manual install, threw it in there and PM'd a few of our users to see if the problem had been resolved:  Yes!

Don't know what y'all changed in that file, but for some reason it went wonky and kept re-notifying folks about PM's that had already been read?

Thanks for the quick fix, Chris :):):)
